Hello Autumn! Is anybody there?

I won’t apologise for my lack of posts…I really must get better at regular posting…I have been on Instagram a bit more lately as it is just so quick and easy!

I think this photo is hilarious!

Autumn is upon is..The nights are getting chilly and the sun setting earlier. It is always a good time to reflect and make some changes.

We just got back from a few days on Great Barrier Island where we stayed at Storm Cottage (The little sister to The Shark Alley House designed by Fearon Hay). It was just so nice to be off the grid (let me tell you Great Barrier is very off the grid in the best possible way). The sand feels like walking in silk.  It really is the most lovely feeling.

This was our amazing view!

I have been checking out some great food blogs lately (I will of course never abandon design blogs, my first love)..there are so many! Here are a few goodies

Hemsley & Hemsley (they are ridiculously beautiful)

What Katie Ate (she also has a gorgeous book)

101Cookbooks (I have definitely mentioned this one! I love Heidi Swanson!)

Whole Pantry App (Thanks Emma!)

Deliciously Ella

Health Yeah! (Thanks Emma!)

I have also been spending a bit too much time at Little Bird Cafe in Ponsonby. It is a divine raw food cafe and I seriously cannot work out how they can make cheesecake taste that amazing and still be sans all the bad stuff. It has made me want to invest in one of these bad boys, a vegetable spiralizer. I think I will go for the Paderno one as it has over 2000 glowing reviews. I already have a mandolin but have sliced my fingers too many times, that I have given up on the damn thing because let’s face it no one wants to have bloody veggies! I figure this one takes that out of the equation at least!

I would be totally remiss if I forgot to mention that my little boy Magnus Magoo has started school! It has been very exciting but bittersweet at the same time. Where did those 5 years go!????

So, I hope you will forgive me for my absence and please keep checking in!  I will be better….

I will leave you with a quote from Anais Nin

“You live like this, sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. Then you read a book… or you take a trip… and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. The symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. The second symptom (when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure. That is all. It appears like an innocuous illness. Monotony, boredom, death. Millions live like this (or die like this) without knowing it. They work in offices. They drive a car. They picnic with their families. They raise children. And then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death. Some never awaken.”

WORD!
